The Seven Deadly Sins - Anger

Apr 12, 2026    Pastor Brandon Bowers

In our first message of our Seven Deadly Sins series, we take a deep look at the destructive power of anger—not just as an emotion, but as a heart issue that can lead to devastating consequences. Drawing from Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount, this sermon challenges us to see that anger is more than outward reactions—it reveals what’s happening internally.

Through biblical truth and real-life examples, we explore five common ways people respond to anger—revenge, venting, displacement, repression, and surrender—and why only one leads to healing. Unchecked anger can damage relationships, distort our spiritual lives, and give the enemy a foothold.

This message calls us to stop managing anger in unhealthy ways and instead surrender it to God. By identifying triggers, pausing to pray, choosing love over revenge, and pursuing reconciliation, we can replace anger with peace. True freedom doesn’t come from winning arguments—it comes from a transformed heart through Christ.
